Visit of the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan to the Computer Network Information Center of Chines Academy of Sciences
On July 8th, President of National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, Academician Abdrahamatov and Academician Altai visited Computer Network Information Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNIC) for an insightful discussion about the construction of supercomputing center with CNIC and Qingdao University.
Prof. Sun Degang, Head of Administrative Board and Executive Director , warmly welcomed the guests, briefly introduced the construction and operation of CNIC's information infrastructure and platform services as well as its international cooperation work, and expressed his eagerness for academic collaborations with Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries.
Academician Abdrahamatov, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, shared the purpose of the delegation's visit. He mentioned that Kyrgyzstan is tackling disaster prevention challenges like earthquake early warning through information resource sharing and technical services. Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, has established a friendly city relationship with Qingdao, and the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan has cooperated with Qingdao University in scientific research and information technology. He expressed his hope to enhance exchanges and cooperation by exploring the service operation of the CNIC.
Prof. Long Yunze of Qingdao University, accompanied by Academician Abdrahamatov, and other four experts, expressed their desire to strengthen ties with CNIC and collaborate with Kyrgyzstan.
Prof. Chi Xuebin expertly responded to the technical queries from the Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, while Li Chen and Hao Huiqun shared insights about the Center's service operation and the "ORISE" supercomputing system, and discussed topics of mutual interest about supercomputer center construction. The attendees delved into the construction of the supercomputer center and other pertinent issues. Mr. Lu Zhonghua, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Center, and Mr. Li Chong, Director of Science and Technology Department, also participated in the seminar.
