GOSC African Online Training Series in May

Date: May 23, 2024

The inaugural session of the GOSC online training series took place early this week. It was jointly organized by GOSC IPO and AICAD and powered by CSTCloud, bringing together participants from various African research communities. This week-long webinar is dedicated to knowledge exchange and science communication on cloud federation technology and its applications, with a particular focus on showcasing the service capabilities of the YunKun system in facilitating Open Science research under the GOSC initiative.

The first day's training was tailored for general cloud users, offering insightful sessions on user registration, security strategies, and practical guidelines for securely accessing cloud services through the GOSC Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (AAI). Additionally, virtual machines were adopted as fundamental virtual collaborative environments for further research. Subsequent weekly training sessions cover a range of topics accompanied by hands-on practices, including the application of object storage services and the management of EVCloud and the YunKun system, fully tailored for advanced cloud computing engineers.

As the follow-up webinar of the GOSC African training series, this week-long GOSC online training aims to deepen the understanding of cloud federation technology and promote its adoption among diverse African partners. Its expected to enhance the capacity building for Open Science and SDGs research in Africa, demonstrating the commitment of the GOSC initiative to fostering collaboration and innovation across regions and domains (Xueting Li, Lili Zhang).
