Nov. 11th, Mr. Kostas Glinos, Head of Unit, European Commission Information Society and Media Directorate-General, and other experts, accompanied by Ms. Ben Teng, assistant from EU Embassy of Information &Society department, have visited Computer Network Information Center(CNIC) friendly.

Prof. Xiangyang Huang, director of CNIC, and Prof. Baoping Yan, the Chief Engineer of CNIC hosted EU delegation warmly. In the public lecture A.M., Prof. Huang gave a lecture, named”Service & Application - oriented IT solutions for Scientific research”. He made a brief introduction of CNIC, including CNIC’s developments, achievements and international cooperation. And then, the numbers of EU delegation delivered speeches separately, which concerned about Project TEIN3 and so on. At the half end of lecture, the leaders of three divisions of CNIC also gave speeches to introduce their own departments relating business developments and some international projects. Almost forty technicians and graduated students from seven operating divisions of CNIC attended the lecture.

In the afternoon, after tour the machinery room of CNIC and took group photo. EU delegation attend a seminar hosted by CNIC. Prof. Qian Depei, General Group Leader, National Key Project of 863 for Grid of China and Mr. Zhang Hui, Chief Engineer of Chinese National Science and Technolgoy Infrastructure, Information and Technology center, were invited to give lectures by CNIC. Later, the discussion between CNIC and part numbers of EU delegation was chaired by Prof. Yan Baoping. Two sides exchanged ideas about details of international cooperation projects which concerned by both sides. EU delegation expressed their expectation about furthering and boardening the international cooperation with CNIC. The seminar has been closed with the sincere and friendly atmosphere.
