A final review meeting for the BRIDGE(Bilateral Research and Industrial Development Enhancing and Integrating GRID Enabled Technologies, http://www.scai.fraunhofer.de/bridge-grid.html)project was held at ECMWF(European Center for Medium range Weather Forecasting) at Reading UK from April 22 to 23 of 2009. Three CNIC delegates attended this meeting, on which the project received great evaluation from the European Commission officials.

BRIDGE is one of the research projects of the European Commission Sixth Framework Program (FP6), which starts from January 1 of 2007 to December 31 of 2008 with the budget of 1,700,000 Euros. The BRIDGE project is organized by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. and institutes from 12 countries. There are six institutes are involved in this project in China, including Computer Network Information Center (CNIC, CAS), Beihang University, China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II), China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM,CAS) and NeoTrident Technology LTD.
CNIC attended the tasks in WP1, WP3 and WP5 of the BRIDGE project. We developed the data access middleware and grid portal for Meteorological application based on the Grid technology. The portal was deployed at CMA and ECMWF, which are demonstrated at the final review meeting for ten minutes and got good appreciation from the officials of the European Commission.
