Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum 2008 Series"Dialogue between Nobel winners and CAS" held in CNIC

On Nov. 13,Nobel Laureates Beijing Forum 2008 Series,Dialogue between Nobel winners and CAS,has been held in CNIC.Dr. John E. Hopcroft and Dr. Robert Kahn who both won Turning Prizes before, have been invited to give speeches for technicians and students from CNIC and IACAS.In order to provide the opportunity to exchange views with experts face to face,this meeting sponsored by Computer Network Information Center and Institute of Automation of CAS.Prof. Bo Xu,the deputy director of IACAS,Prof.Jianhua Tao from IACAS,Prof.Xiangyang Huang,the director of CNIC,and Prof.Wei Mao,the deputy director of CNIC,attended and deliver their speeches at the same time.


During the meeting,Prof.Huang deliver the welcoming speech firstly and give a brief introduction for two experts.Then, Dr. John E. Hopcroft and Dr. Robert Kahn gave their theme speeches on computer science respectively. 
The topic of Dr. John E. Hopcroft is "Research Directions Supporting the Information Age".He expressed the insight of the development of information science and supportive theory.During the speech, Dr.Hopcroft mentioned "change" many times and illustrated that our life has been changed by information technology by using lots of examples.Also,he expected that the development of relative technology about information time in the future.  
The The topic of Dr. John Kahn is "Network-based Information Management:The Digital Object Architecture".As the inventor of TCP/IP , designer of Arpanet system,and founder of "information highway",he focused on technology about Internet web resources seeking.During the  speeches of two experts,Profs.Tao and Mao gave feedback respectively.
At the end of the meeting, students from CNIC and IACAS exchanged views happily.Many a students think,it is a hard-won opportunity for them to talk to top experts face to face,it's a definitely good way to broaden horizon.
