On June 2, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress and CAS President LU Yongxiang and his party came to CNIC, CAS for inspection and survey. LU Yongxiang listened first to the general work report given by CNIC Director Huang Xiangyang entitlted “Build top level informatization infrastructure for scientific research, create first rate support and service of informatization”. Then he listened to special-topic work reports by Chi Xuebin, Li Jianhui, Yan Baoping and Maowei on “ Some ideas on CAS supercomputing environment”, “Building top-level scientific data center”, “e-Science environment -based joint research base of CAS and Qinhai lake national reserve areas” and “CNNIC work report” respectively. Lu also held discussions with the CNIC leading group and middle-level backbone personnel.
Lu Yongxiang stressed that knowledge, talent and science and technology have played an important role in the current anti-earthquake and disaster relief work, in which network technology has played a key role in the timely spreading of information. He said, CAS has attached great importance to informatization construction and CNIC has made remarkable progress in the past two years as the CAS informatization support and support unit. Lu gave the following instructions: firstly, CNIC should further strengthen the unity and coordination of its leading group, enhance its cohesiveness, combat effectiveness and creativeness in its future development; secondly, CNIC leaders should clear up thinking and implement key tasks, especially strengthen informatization construction, network service, supercomputing, e-science application research, etc.; thirdly, pay more attention to strategic study, continuously study and estimate the social demands, CAS demands and frontier of S&T development, and make scientific and appropriate plans; fourthly, further improve the construction of websites of the whole CAS, enhance the security, reliability and service ability so as to meet the demands of scientific research, economy , social security and social management and hence promote the development of CNIC; fifthly, further emancipate our thinking, reform and innovate, and take a road with the characters of conforming to self-positioning and satisfying e-science construction requirements.
