Computer Network Information Center (CNIC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences opened its doors on May 19 to allow public access to its cyberinfrastructure and research, which attracted more than 350 students, teachers, parents and other visitors from all walks of life. The morning public lecture session combined the briefing on the research of CNIC and fascinating insights from six researchers and engineers highlighting the promising areas of network service, high-performance computing, big data, data visualization, e-science application and Internet of things. Then all visitors took tours to CNIC’s cyberinfrastructure facilities and data visualization demonstration environment.
As one of the supporting organizations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CNIC held the above activities according to the academy’s policy and deployment on Public Open Day, an annual science outreach endeavor across the academy.
