Data Technology Training
CNIC holds training seminars on data and relevant technologies for research institutes of the CAS and other interest groups from home and abroad with some examples as follows.
1. International Training Workshop for Developing Countries on Big Data for Science
With support from the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) and CAS Bureau of International Cooperation, CNIC has successfully held three international training workshops for developing countries on big data for science in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
The 3rd International Training Workshop for Developing Countries on Big Data for Science was held at CNIC on July 4-15, 2016. 21 researchers, data managers and data scientists from 12 developing countries including Vietnam, India, Motswana, Indonesia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Ukraine, Poland, Philippine, Nepal and Madagascar attended the training workshop. The international training workshop was co-sponsored by CODATA and CAS, and co-organized by CODATA Secretariat, CNIC and the Chinese National Committee for CODATA (CODATA-China). The training program aims to engage participants with a number of facets of data science and data management in the Big Data Age. Topics include, but are not limited to, interdisciplinary applications of open research data, data intensive research, data management policies, cloud computing, visualization, analytics and data infrastructure development in the Big Data Age. Through a mix of theoretical study, workshop and practical sessions as well as field visits, the organizers aim to help participants develop a deeper expertise in the latest Big Data technologies for scientific discovery.

2. Training Seminar for Users of GS Cloud
CNIC holds regular meetings and training seminars for users of the Geospatial Data Cloud (GS Cloud), a data service portal which provides geospatial data search, reservation, download and on-line model analysis cloud service for users through integrating storage, data and model resources in the fields of geoscience, remote sensing, atmosphere, etc. The Third GS Cloud User Conference themed on sharing geographic intelligence and finding data value was held at CNIC on 8 December, 2015. More than 200 experts, scholars and students participated in the conference.
