CAS Academia Resource Planning system
Inspired by the concept and practices of Enterprise Resource Planning, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) initiated the Academia Resource Planning (ARP) project in September 2002, and has since then started to construct and improve the ARP system to support the e-management endeavors across the academy by integrating and optimizing the management flow of research, human resources, finance & logistics with an online platform for business processing, information services and decision-making. Serving more than 30,000 active users from the academy, the system has integrated a considerable number of applications to support the management of research project, human resources, finance, infrastructure construction, research facility, domestic cooperation, international cooperation, intellectual property, evaluation, official document processing & archiving, etc. Relevant endeavors have been selected as the best e-government practice in China for many years. By the end of 2017, the ARP system has been installed and used by 130 organizations, supporting the e-management of the CAS Headquarter and research institutes with an online system which incorporated 10 major application systems, 179 R&D management procedures and 3371 R&D management functions.
