National Data Sharing Service Platform for Basic Science is a national platform project for developing basic conditions of science and technology and was formally incorporated into the operation system of National Science and Technology Infrastructure in 2017. Driven by the demands from national research priorities, the platform was established based on the research data from over 30 organizations in and out of CAS such as the Institute of High Energy Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Institute of Botany, Institute of Zoology, Institute of Microbiology, National Space Science Center, Changchun University of Science and Technology, China Institute of Atomic Energy, Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics and Qinghai Lake National Nature Reserve. The platform has been receiving an annual operation funding of 10.8 million RMB from the National Science and Technology Infrastructure Center since 2017.
By the end of 2017, the platform has integrated more than 250 professional databases in the fields of physics, chemistry, astronomy, space science and biology, with the amount of accessible data reaching 431TB. The portal site revision and upgrade design has been completed, adding new functions like image content retrieval and becoming accessible for multiple platforms. The total visits and page views of the site have reached more than 17.1 million person-times and 100 million respectively. With a total number of data downloads reaching 243.94 TB, data from the platform have been cited by more than 2,000 papers published by CNKI journals and supported a number of research-related endeavors such as the construction of the South America Data Center of the Meridian Space Weather Monitoring Project, the long-term operation and the implementation of relevant research missions of the Dark Matter Particle Detection Satellite, Quantum Science Experiment Satellite and Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT) Satellite, and the international cooperation of the global microbiology research community. Relevant data services have played an increasingly important role in supporting scientific research, macro-level decision-making and social development.
